Daniel Farke can be a very divisive figure among Leeds United supporters, and he’s not helped himself with some of his latest comments.

Leeds United are aiming for promotion from the Championship at the second time of trying under Daniel Farke.

And the going was great up until a 1-1 draw against West Brom, which was followed up by Sunday’s 1-0 defeat at Portsmouth live on ITV.

That defeat allowed Sheffield United to move level on points with the Whites. On top of that, Burnley in 3rd are now just two points behind.

Up next for the Whites is a home game against Millwall on Wednesday night.

Daniel Farke’s rallying cry angers Leeds United fans

Speaking ahead of the game against Millwall, Farke has issued a rallying cry to the fans. He said: “We need our supporters, the best supporters in this country. We have five home games to go. If our supporters sing us to five home wins we will definitely be in the top two. We have to build unity.

“Everyone has to be at our best at Elland Road on Wednesday and we have to make sure that the whole stadium is buzzing.”

And the comments have certainly angered a fair few Leeds fans who feel that it’s the players aren’t up to scratch right now.

“It would be nice if the players were up for it,” read one Leeds fan’s comment. Another added: “The fans always play their part, this is desperate comment.”

“Fans will show up as we always do,” said one Leeds supporter. “Be nice if the players do the same so we’re not a laughing stock again.”

A similar comment read: “Funny how it’s always the same ‘we need the fans’ when things look like taking a turn for the worst.”

Others posted: “Fed up of this… We turn up at Elland Road 99% of the time, said the same last year, we turned up, the players didn’t,” and: “Oh I’m sorry. I forgot we don’t sell out every week including 45k at Wembley last May. Don’t think it’s us you need to be telling to show up.”

What happened the last time Leeds United played Millwall?

Fans may remember very well what happened the last time Leeds played Millwall, and the last time that they welcomed Alex Neil’s side to Elland Road: the Lions won.

Millwall beat Leeds United in the FA Cup in January. Granted, it was a very makeshift Leeds XI, but Millwall will take great confidence from that win and from Leeds’ defeat against Portsmouth.

Burnley could move top of the Championship table on Tuesday night with a win at home to West Brom, and so too could Sheffield United who host Bristol City.

Going into Wednesday’s game not in 1st will pile even more pressure on Leeds to get a win against a stubborn Millwall side.
