Leeds United and Burnley are among the sides battling for automatic promotion from the Championship, but off the pitch the Whites are looking to swoop in on one of their stars.
Leeds currently sit third in the table two points adrift of both Sunderland and Sheffield United in first and second, with Burnley a couple of points further back in fourth.
January is already looking like it could prove to be an important month for every team at the top, though Leeds’ plans for the window will depend on their results over the festive period.
Number 10 was a position Daniel Farke wanted to address in the summer, and after failing to do so, it wouldn’t be a surprise if they revisited it in January.
Meanwhile, Burnley have scored just nine goals in their last 13 matches and so surely some fire power in attack will be on their agenda when the window opens.

Leeds eyeing move for Burnley star Josh Brownhill
Burnley’s top goalscorer this season is actually in midfield, with Josh Brownhill the only player to have scored more than two, with five goals.
However, Brownhill is out of contract at Turf Moor at the end of the season and speaking exclusively to LeedsUnited.News, transfer expert Graeme Bailey says Leeds are among the clubs keen on a free transfer.
Brownhill is also attracting interest from Premier League sides, as well as Old Firm duo Celtic and Rangers, meaning Leeds have plenty of work to do if they are to get a deal over the line.
In fact, Leeds’ chances of landing Brownhill is set to entirely depend on whether they win promotion, according to Bailey.
He said: “Josh Brownhill is a player Leeds have liked for a long time, and the fact he is out of contract next summer is something they are well aware of. Brownhill is having a great season in the Championship and he would really be of interest to Leeds going forward.
“Leeds know that the only way they would be in the conversation is if they get promoted, which could count against them as foreign clubs, including Celtic and Rangers, could agree a pre-contract before Leeds have the chance to make an official offer.”

Brownhill has been on Leeds radar since Jesse Marsch
As mentioned by Bailey, Brownhill is a player Leeds have admired for several years now, with interest dating back as long as six years ago.
However, Leeds’ most concrete interest in Brownhill came just two years ago under Jesse Marsch, a matter of weeks after they had pipped the Clarets to survival.
Brownhill ended up staying at Burnley that summer and helping them win promotion back to the Premier League, but faces a big decision on whether to stay or move on in the coming months.
