Daniel Farke reveals Leeds United could look different on Saturday as they line up to face Newcastle, but in what way?
With Leeds United hoping to bounce back after two consecutive losses, they will be hoping to come out strong against Newcastle United on Saturday.
Their last Premier League fixture was a 5 – 0 thrashing from Arsenal, delivering some harsh truths to the newly promoted side.
Tuesday night saw Leeds lose to a very young Sheffield Wednesday side in the Carabao Cup, which highlighted Daniel Farke’s biggest issue.
But now Farke faces a fresh issue, and it’s something he didn’t want to give away too much on.

Daniel Farke could be forced into formation change this weekend
During Thursday’s press conference, Farke suggested that due to ongoing injury woes they will be forced into a formation change.
Farke said when talking about midfield: “A bit tricky. It’s a bit thin, but we will find some solutions. Might set up differently. I won’t say too much but we still have options.”
With Leeds missing Ethan Ampadu and Ao Tanaka who both have MCL issues, it leaves a huge gap that Farke has rightly said will need to be filled.
Farke could be forced to adopt the 4-2-3-1 formation which was used during Leeds’ defeat to Sheffield Wednesday, despite knowing how that game ended.

How Leeds United could line up against Newcastle United
With Farke saying changes can be expected, the most likely line up we can expect to see with 4 – 2 – 3 – 1 formation is Sam Byram, who may be given the captain’s armband, Sebastiaan Bornauw, Jaka Bijol and Jack Harrison leading the defensive line.
These four players dominated FotMob’s ratings for the Sheffield Wednesday game, giving the impression that Leeds’ back line is of no need for concern.
In the middle of the pitch, Farke may choose to have Sean Longstaff alongside Jayden Bogle. Then the attacking trio of Willy Gnonto, Joel Piroe, and Dan James. A tactical shift would be needed from these three; they would need to become the primary creative and goalscoring threats, as the team would likely transition to a more direct style of play.
In light of this, Dominic Calvert-Lewin would be sitting at the top, hoping to build on his missed shots during the Sheffield Wednesday game.
