Leeds United have confirmed they are looking to appoint a new manager in the ‘coming weeks’.
The Whites have set out the timeline in an official club statement this morning, which also confirmed that Sam Allardyce would not be offered a new deal, as expected.
Allardyce was brought in on an interim basis for the final four matches of the season in a last ditch attempt to preserve Leeds’ Premier League status.
However, after accumulating just one point, Leeds were relegated to the Championship and as such, the club have made the decision to look elsewhere.
Leeds have already been linked with a host of targets, with Brendan Rodgers, Graham Potter, Regis Le Bris, Carlos Corberan and Rob Edwards all mentioned.
Leeds set out managerial timeline
Leeds have announced that an appointment of a new manager will look to be made in the coming weeks, but in all honest it really does need to be sooner rather than later.
It is unclear whether Leeds will be able to push the button on key decisions such as this until the ownership situation is clarified, with San Francisco 49ers Enterprises still locked in talks over a full buyout, despite Andrea Radrizzani appearing to reaffirm his commitment to the club in a statement on Wednesday.
Simply, that has to be completed one way or another as soon as possible given the amount of work Leeds have to do this summer.
Leeds will also need to bring in a new director of football to replace Victor Orta, while a mass overhaul of the squad is expected.
It is going to be difficult to bring in any new players without the green light from a manager and so Leeds really have to get a move on.
