Leeds United and Brentford injury round-up with six players missing and two doubtful

Sunday afternoon sees Leeds United take on Brentford as Daniel Farke looks to maintain momentum after two brilliant results against Chelsea and Liverpool last week.

Leeds come into the game with Daniel Farke having saved his job at Elland Road. The Whites earned a win against Chelsea and a 3-3 draw with Liverpool to take the Whites out of the relegation zone into 16th.

Now, Leeds v Brentford. It sees Leeds fans reignite their rivalry with Keith Andrews, which stretches back to 2019 and the Irishman’s bizarre criticism of Elland Road favourite Pontus Jansson under Marcelo Bielsa.

Remember Leeds United’s message to Keith Andrews in 2019? 😂

It also sees Farke take on a side he has faced eight times before, and only lost once. But there will be a whole host of players missing come Sunday, with Brentford missing plenty of midfield and attacking stars.

The six players who will definitely miss Leeds v Brentford

Leeds are going to be without two key players. Dan James has suffered a long-term hamstring injury and it could keep him on the sidelines all the way until the end of January, and by then, he could be replaced.

Sean Longstaff is also set to miss Sunday’s clash with the midfielder struggling with a muscle injury. The length of his spell on the sidelines is unclear, but Sunday’s clash will be the fourth game Longstaff misses.

Brentford meanwhile, are without four players. Josh DaSilva, Fabio Carvalho and Antoni Milambo are all out for the rest of the season having suffered ACL injuries. Kevin Schade has picked up a suspension.

The two doubts ahead of Leeds v Brentford clash

It is largely a clean bill of health for Leeds, with the only doubt after Longstaff and James being striker Lukas Nmecha. The Germany star suffered a muscle strain ahead of Liverpool and it saw him miss out.

What changes would you make on Sunday? 🤔

But given he was a late call against Liverpool, the belief is that Nmecha feels he should be fine to take on Brentford. That will buoy Leeds fans, with Farke’s new 3-5-2 working best with Nmecha and Calvert-Lewin.

For Brentford, there is also one doubt and it comes in the form of former Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson. It kept the winger out on the weekend but like Leeds star Nmecha, the feeling is Nelson will be fit to play.
