It is becoming more and more obvious that Leeds United are on the lookout for a new striker with four new names linked in the last few weeks – and it might be a hint that Leeds are planning to reshuffle their forward line.
Rodrigo is now 32 and while he has been superb this season, he is set to enter the final year of his contract. There have been suggestions he could leave in the summer. Patrick Bamford is far from the player he was pre-injuries.
Georgie Rutter is one for the future, but he needs someone to learn from and Joe Gelhardt’s poor loan spell at Sunderland will have done little convincing at Elland Road. It is clear that Leeds are planning a reshuffle up top.
Indeed, the club in the last couple of weeks have been linked with four strikers – all of different type, style and shape. It might be that Leeds bring a couple of new attackers in and allow the likes of Bamford and Rodrigo to go.

Mateo Retegui – Tigre
The 23-year-old was a surprise inclusion in Italy’s National Team squad last month, given he is born in Argentina and showed no sign of representing Italy until a few weeks ago. He starred on Italy debut, scoring against England.
Italian reporter Ciro Venerato says Leeds are in the race for Retegui. Then, Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg said he would cost a bargain £13m. He’d be a superb addition and maybe, Leeds is the perfect stepping stone in his career.
Vasilis Pavlidis – AZ Alkmaar
Greece star Pavlidis has been on fire for AZ, since rejecting Arne Slot’s Feyenoord in the summer of 2021. Last season – 41 games, 15 goals, seven assists. This season, a step up. In 30 games, he has 19 goals and 10 assists.
Jeunes Footeux say Leeds and Aston Villa are closely looking at the striker, with a fee of £22m required to land his signature. A player with huge potential and the kind of power that is required to play as a no.9 in English football.
Divock Origi – AC Milan
A surprise report emerged from Italian outlet Calcio Mercato on Tuesday, stating that Leeds were battling a whole host of Premier League clubs to sign Origi. A player Premier League fans will know for his 175 Liverpool outings.
His first season at Milan has not gone to plan, starting just six of 26. He needs a club where he is going to play most matches and Leeds would certainly give him that. But he will be on big wages. A move depends on a transfer fee.
Gift Orban – Gent
Orban is quite the sensation. Having scored 19 goals in 24 games for Norwegian side Stabaek, he earned a move to Belgian side Gent in January. Since that move, he has a whopping 14 goals in just 11 games. Wonderkid potential.
CBS Sports reporter Ben Jacobs says Leeds and Leicester are keen. As the goals go in, the interest will ramp up. Another striker on the Leeds list and another indication that clearly, Leeds have identified the attack as a priority.
