Leeds United attacker Jack Harrison has told Stadium Astro that his medical at Leicester City on deadline day, before performing a u-turn and returning to Leeds, was something he has “definitely” not experienced before in his career.
Harrison, 26, is one of our most-important players. He has been used more in a central role of late and it is getting the best out of him. A player that has had a hand in nine goals this season, in 23 games. His contract ends in June 2024.
On deadline day, he came close to ending his stint at Leeds. Which has lasted four and a half years, lasting 189 games. Sky Sports report that Harrison is set to sign a new Leeds deal, despite starting a medical at Leicester on dealdine day.
The report claims a phone call from Leeds convinced Harrison to stay, with Leeds set to match or better Leicester’s offer. Nothing has materialised but of course, the club are working hard to bring in a replacement for Jesse Marsch.
Speaking after Sunday’s 2-0 loss to Manchester United, Harrison told Stadium Astro that deadline day was something he has not experienced: “Definitely not [something I’ve not experienced before]. I don’t want to talk too much about it.
“All I want to do is play football. Do my best on the pitch. The situation opened my eyes to what goes on behind the scenes. But it’s how you focus, how to deal with things. I just try to focus on the team and what’s best for me.”

Leeds keeping Harrison was pivotal. His form in January and since deadline day is proof of that. In January, he had a hand in five goals in five games. Albeit, four of those involvements came against lower-league sides in the FA Cup.
Harrison has moved into the middle of the pitch, playing almost as a striker alongside Patrick Bamford in the last two matches under caretaker manager Michael Skubala. He has impressed, without managing to score or lay on an assist.
But when Leeds get their manager situation sorted, the next priority should be sorting Harrison’s contract out. He has got to be kept at Elland Road. Whether Harrison is keen on staying with relegation a worry, who knows.
