Leeds star says he expects to stay permanently at loan club, National Team boss is watching him

Leeds United defender Robin Koch has told German magazine Kicker he is expecting to stay beyond his loan spell with Eintracht Frankfurt – after making a superb start to his loan with the Bundesliga outfit.

Koch, 27, joined Frankfurt as one of eight senior players that left thanks to the relegation loan clause inserted into their contracts. The likes of Marc Roca, Jack Harrison and Luis Sinisterra did the same.

Of all of the players out on loan, Koch has probably produced the best form. He has not missed a single minute for Frankfurt this season, playing all 13 games. He even captained Frankfurt on the weekend.

A 3-1 win over Hoffenheim, earning praise from Luke Ayling, Pascal Struijk and Mateusz Klich. In the 13 games Koch has played, Frankfurt have lost only two – keeping five clean sheets, conceding just 10.

That form has seen Koch place himself under the spotlight of Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann. Sport1 reporter Christopher Michel told Leeds Live that Nagelsmann has been watching him for Frankfurt.

But, what of a permanent move? Well, Koch pretty much ended his Leeds spell by joining Frankfurt on loan in the final year of his deal. He will go on a free – able to talk to non-English sides from January 1.

Given his form, you would imagine Frankfurt will look to tie up a contract as soon as possible. Perhaps, making Koch sign a pre-contract in order to prevent other sides from taking a look given his displays.

Koch was asked by Kicker over the weekend about a permanent move to Frankfurt. He is expecting to stay put beyond the duration of his loan spell – and at this moment in time, it is hard to see why not.

“I feel very comfortable here. I thought about the decision very carefully. I also asked some players what it was like here. Expectations have even been exceeded. After the year we will see what happens next.”

Asked by Kicker if he can see himself remaining at Frankfurt beyond the loan, the defender said: “I can imagine that very well. I currently feel in perfect hands at Eintracht and want to achieve a lot here.”
