Robin Koch has starred for Frankfurt since leaving Leeds United on a season loan in the summer, and he captained his loan club on Saturday – earning praise from Luke Ayling and Mateusz Klich on Instagram.
Koch, 27, has played every single minute for Frankfurt this season. Not missing a single second for the Bundesliga side in all 13 games, both league and cup. He has his eyes firmly set on a Euro 2024 place.
In the middle of a back three, the Germany stars has helped his keep five clean sheets in those 13. His side have only conceded 10 goals – and have only lost once in those 13. They climbed to seventh.
A 3-1 win over Hoffenheim, away from home – probably Frankfurt’s best result of the season. It was announced before the game that Koch would captain the side – and he posted on his Instagram page.
Ayling and Klich praise on-loan Leeds man Koch on Instagram
Koch has pretty much left Leeds permanently. He is in the final year of his Leeds contract and it looks as if he will be signing a pre-contract with Frankfurt from January 1, when he can talk to non-English sides.
He left Leeds, after we went down, in order to keep his small hopes of a Euro 2024 place with Germany alive. Now, he is not only knocking on the door, he is rushing it down. Koch has been superb for his side.
Leeds are finally seeing the player Victor Orta wanted to bring to Elland Road – just, not in a Leeds shirt. He has clearly made the right move for his career. Ayling and Klich reacted, as Koch wore the armband.
Pascal Struijk also commented, having captained Leeds in the last two League games against Bristol City and Norwich – both of which, Leeds have recorded wins. Liam Cooper and Ayling were benched.
