Leeds United are close to completing the signing of Bayer Leverkusen star Nadiem Amiri with the player performing a u-turn and choosing us over Marseille – and it is a double boost in our hunt for promotion.
Amiri, 26, is now expected to join Leeds on a four-year deal for a fee between £4.5m and £5m. It comes after Marseille could not agree a fee. Daniel Farke’s admiration of the player has convinced Amiri to join.
Earlier on today, it was claimed that Amiri was unconvinced by a move to the Championship – as per a report from Kicker. But GGFN, among many sites, not state that a move is back on and set to go ahead.
So, Leeds are finally bringing in a no.10. A real gem of a player in Amiri – who has five Germany caps and has played north of 200 Bundesliga matches for Hoffenheim and Leverkusen. Signing him is a real coup.

Leeds close to signing Amiri: Double boost in promotion hunt
But what it also does, is secures Leeds a double blow in pursuit of promotion to the Premier League at the first attempt. Last season, Nathan Tella starred for Burnley – scoring 19 goals in 45 outyings on loan.
He is now back at parent club Southampton, already having a hand in two goals during three games for them. Leverkusen are keen. GGFN say the sale of Amiri will allow Bayer to push through a move for Tella.
So, not only are we signing a player in Amiri that is of top tier quality – and instantly bolsters our push for an instant return to the Premier League. But it removes one of Southampton’s best players, a direct rival.
