Aston Villa have reportedly stepped up their interest in buying Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams as Unai Emery looks to bolster his midfield – and Leeds should request the inclusion of Marvelous Nakamba in a deal for Adams.

Phil Hay reports in the Athletic article that Leeds have ‘planned discussions’ to keep the USA skipper at Elland Road. But the chances are Adams will leave Leeds and a move to Villa could suit him – he is too good for the second tier.

Villa are not the only club interested either. But, with a source as reputable as The Athletic saying Villa are stepping up interest in Adams, it is more than likely to be true. Villa have money to spend, and European football on offer.

A move to Villa Park will prove tempting for Adams if he is given assurances that he will start. Villa do have options in the middle of the park – having signed Youri Tielemans from Leicester. Leeds should request a player in return.

Leeds should request inclusion of Nakamba in Villa deal for Adams

Leeds are running out of time already to start work on reshaping the squad, as the search for a new manager goes on. The Athletic report also states that Villa are looking to offload Nakamba, who helped Luton gain promotion.

He joined Luton on loan in January and played 20 times, playing every minute of the two play-off semi-finals and the final at Wembley – lasting all 120 minutes. The £11m man has struggled at Villa, but starred in the Championship.

Described by Luton boss Rob Edwards as ‘brilliant’, Luton are more than likely to be interested in a deal for him. But, if Villa are keen on Adams and Villa want Nakamba gone, Leeds should request he is part of a move for Adams.
