Leeds United are prepared to hand Wilfried Gnonto a new contract that includes ‘favourable clauses’.
That is according to the Daily Telegraph, who report Leeds are hopeful of welcoming Gnonto back into the fold at some point before then handing him a fresh deal.
Gnonto still has four years left to run on his current terms at Elland Road after joining from FC Zurich last summer, but it is said that it is ‘effectively an academy contract’.
The 19-year-old currently finds himself training away from the rest of the first team squad having made his desire to leave clear.
With Everton having seen a number of offers rejected, he has grown frustrated at Leeds‘ unwillingness to let him leave and as such, has refused to play in each of the last two matches.

Gnonto – dubbed as ‘fantastic’ by Gary Neville – is also set to be unavailable for tomorrow’s game with West Bromwich Albion and it is difficult to see him being welcomed back into the squad while this is ongoing.
Leeds and Daniel Farke have made their stance clear that Gnonto will not be sold this summer, and the clearly the hope is they can tempt him to stay with a new deal.
His current contract does not include a relegation release clause which is why Leeds have so far fought so hard to keep him.
By offering a new deal, Leeds could ask Gnonto to give them a year in the Championship and if promotion is not secured this season, there would be clauses that let him leave in 12 months’ time.
Clearly there is a long way back for Gnonto at Leeds, but at the same time they are not prepared to give up that easily.
