Leeds United are interested in signing Genk forward Joseph Paintsil.

That is according to Sky Sports, who reported in their live blog earlier this evening Painstil is one of a number of forwards Leeds are currently looking at.

As per the report, Genk could consider offers in the region of £8.5 million, with Southampton having also been linked with a move last week.

Leeds remain in the market for attacking reinforcements but Paintsil is much more comfortable playing off the right wing.

Given the amount of wide options Leeds have, it is likely either one or both of Luis Sinisterra and Wilfried Gnonto will be on their way out in order to firm up interest in Paintsil.

That said, Paintsil would represent a significant coup for Leeds in the Championship based on his numbers at Genk last season.

He scored 14 goals and provided a further 14 assists in just 30 league appearances in the 2022/23 campaign as Genk missed out on the title by just one point.

Paintsil is primarily right-footed and is also a Ghanian international, having been capped on nine occasions.

Daniel Farke is in desperate need of some added creativity in his squad and Painstil would certainly provide that, as well as an added goal threat.

This feels like one to keep an eye on as the window ticks towards the final stages.
