Leeds United are ‘not completely convinced’ over the signing of Fortuna Dusseldorf midfielder Ao Tanaka.
That is according to Sky in Germany reporter Marlos Irlbacher, who reports Leeds have held talks with Fortuna over the signing of the 24-year-old, but are not sure he is worth the asking price.
It is said that Fortuna want to sell Tanaka for a ‘lucrative’ transfer fee before Friday’s deadline and Leeds are uncertain as to whether that reflects his ability.
His potential transfer was also put into further jeopardy on Tuesday when he limped out of a training session with a potential injury scare, as per Germany outlet Express.
Fortuna were quick to debunk that on Twitter, though given how keen they are to raise some funds through his sale, a sceptic would look at that as a tactic to push him towards the exit door.

This is yet another twist to Leeds’ search for a midfielder which, at this point, does not appear any closer to finding a resolution.
The Whites are in the market for at least two new midfielders before Friday’s deadline, with a number eight and 10 top of the club’s list of priorities.
A host of names have been linked with a move to Elland Road in recent days but none appear to be particularly close to being completed.
Leeds have continued to monitor Rangers’ Glen Kamara throughout the window, while Celtic’s Matt O’Riley and Werder Bremen’s Ilia Gruev are names that have cropped up in the last 24 hours.
It would appear as though Leeds are now turning their attention away from Tanaka, as the pressure ramps up in the final hours of the window.
