Leeds United reportedly tabled a £2m bid for West Brom star Brandon Thomas-Asante on deadline day, and the star has since impressed in front of goal for Carlos Corberan’s Baggies this season.
Leeds were keen to bring in attacking reinforcements towards the end of the summer window, with the likes of Matt O’Riley linked with a move. Thomas-Asante was linked late on, scoring 14 goals last term.
According to reporter Simon Watts, Leeds made a £2m bid for Thomas-Asante on ITV’s EFL highlights show. But, he remained at West Brom, where he has since impressed for Corberan’s men this season.
A player Corberan once described as having “skills”. Leeds made a bid on the final day of the window, worth £2m – but West Brom chose to keep him. He has a contract at The Hawthorns until June 2025.
It has proved to be an important move from Corberan and West Brom. Thomas-Asante, who played for Salford before joining West Brom in 2022, has scored five goals in 15 games for West Brom this term.

That is despite only starting 12 of those 15 games, completing 90 minutes just seven times. A decent return then, one of which came in the 1-1 draw against Leeds – albeit, it was an inadvertent finish.
It will be interesting to see if Leeds are still keen on the West Brom man, with his contract set to enter the final 18 months come January. Unless West Brom hand him a new deal, clubs will be interested.
Leeds have plenty of options up top. So much so, that Joe Gelhardt and Mateo Joseph are struggling to get into the side. Leeds do not need a striker – but they may need one, should an injury occur.
