Leeds United might have gone winless for a sixth Premier League game on the trot, but some of our out-on-loan players enjoyed a good weekend and here is a round-up of those involved this weekend – including Stuart McKinstry:
Loan round-up of Leeds players involved this weekend
Stuart McKinstry – Motherwell
McKinstry, 20, was handed his first start for Motherwell on Sunday after returning to his boyhood club on loan. Making an instant impact, the Scotland U21 star curled a delightful free-kick over the top of Rangers veteran Allan McGregor.
A gorgeous goal, and a moment to remember for the winger. Hopefully for Leeds and McKinstry, the hard-working winger is now given a run of games in the starting XI for Stephen Hammell’s side. They face Celtic on Wednesday.
Dan James – Fulham
Not such a good afternoon for James on Saturday, as his Fulham side failed to beat Bournemouth – drawing 2-2. On a personal level for the Wales international, he started for Marco Silva’s side, but was hooked at half-time.
MORE LEEDS STORIES
With Fulham losing 2-1 at the break thanks to goals from Jefferson Lerma and Dom Solanke, Fulham pegged the Cherries back through an Alekansdar Mitrovic penalty. But a frustrating afternoon for James, who is yet to get going.
Helder Costa – Al-Ittihad
Reuniting with Nuno Espirito Santo – who has been linked with Wolves – in the Middle East at Al-Ittihad, Costa was back in the side on Sunday. It was his first outing in a month, having missed the last three games under Nuno.
He lasted 66 minutes, before being withdrawn. Al-Ittihad went on to win the match 1-0, thanks to a late goal from ex-West Brom defender Ahmed Hegazi – who netted in the 80th minute. Costa is yet to score, or lay on an assist.

Jamie Shackleton – Millwall
Shackleton is enduring a difficult period in his Millwall loan. Having joined the club on loan with a view to a permanent deal next summer, the versatile ace has failed to start Millwall’s last three. That is after starting 10 of the first 11 games.
Millwall secured a brilliant 2-1 away win over Bristol City, their second consecutive win and third victory in three games. But Shackleton was only afforded a late outing, playing the final two minutes of the narrow victory.
Tyler Roberts – QPR
The 23-year-old continued in his pursuit of a place in Wales’ World Cup squad with his sixth consecutive Championship start for Michael Beale’s side. But he could not stop Luton Town from winning 3-1 at Kenilworth Road.
QPR came into the game after four wins and a draw in their last five. All of which Roberts has started. But he was withdrawn on 79 minutes, failing to add his two goals for the London club. Next up is Cardiff City on Wednesday.
Charlie Cresswell (Millwall), Mateusz Bogusz (Ibiza) and Lew Bate (Oxford United) were not in action. Jack Jenkins (Salford City) and Ian Poveda (Blackpool) remained unused substitutes for their sides.
