Norwich City have announced Leeds United target Stuart Webber will leave the club at the end of his notice period in March 2024.
In an official statement released by the Canaries, they confirmed Webber made his decision to leave earlier this year but will continue to work for the club to ensure a ‘smooth transition’ until a replacement is found.
On top of that, according to BBC Sport’s Simon Stone, Webber could also leave earlier than his notice period if a club pays compensation to buy him out of his contract.
Webber is among those Leeds are said to be targeting for the vacant sporting director position at Elland Road, with the Whites still in the market for Victor Orta’s replacement.
Leeds are looking to appoint a manager first, though, and are hopeful of wrapping up that process later this week, before focus turns towards a DoF and some new players.
Webber to leave Norwich
Having handed in his notice a number of months ago, it does feel particularly convenient timing to announce Webber’s departure now amid links to Leeds.
One of Leeds’ top targets for the manager’s position is Daniel Farke, with the German said to be among the final shortlist for the position.
Webber was the man who brought Farke to Norwich back in May 2017, with the two having overseen two promotions to the Premier League working alongside one another.
With that in mind, they clearly have a great working relationship and were Farke to be appointed in the coming days, it would not be a surprise to see Webber follow him in the weeks that follow.
It is well documented that Webber is in fact a Leeds supporter, and he may also see the opportunity to work for his boyhood club as too good to turn down.
