Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara has emerged as a possible target for both Leeds United and Southampton, and the Ibrox star has seriously impressed Gary McAllister – who worked under Steven Gerrard, working alongside Kamara.

Kamara, 27, has two years left on his contract at Ibrox – but it is widely expected he ends his stint with the Scottish giants. The 52-time Finland ace has been at Rangers for the last four and a half years, playing 193 times for them.

But Dean Jones reports that both Leeds and Southampton are keen on the ex-Arsenal academy product, ahead of a move in the coming weeks and months. The Herald reported recently he is set to leave, and Rangers want £5million.

Leeds have been linked with Kamara in the past, including the summer in which Leeds gained promotion as Marcelo Bielsa considered options to bolster his midfield ranks (90Min). Now, Leeds could finally get the man Bielsa wanted.

Speaking in 2019 after Rangers completed the signing of Kamara from Dundee, the ex-Leeds skipper raved about the current Ibrox man. He praised his ability to pass and get the ball on the deck, a match winner in tight games.

“He is a very tactically aware, good footballer,” McAllister said, as per Inside Futbol. “Loads of attributes. Can handle the ball, can win games that are very tight. He has an eye for a pass, he can certainly actually make things happen.”

Leeds target Glen Kamara, Ibrox star seriously impressed Gary McAllister

What a signing Kamara would be. For two reasons, one being that Kamara is a widely experienced, international player that has the ability to play in the Premier League, week in, week out. A fee of £5m for that is incredibly cheap.

The second reason is that Leeds need midfielders. Tyler Adams, Marc Roca, Adam Forshaw and Weston McKennie could all leave. The latter already has. So, Leeds need midfielders and Kamara would help ease those midfield woes.
