The Leeds United transfer team is coming under intense pressure to take advantage of the January transfer window and give Daniel Farke what they failed to do in the summer.

After the 0-0 draw against Newcastle, Farke publicly asked Leeds to bring in a couple of attacking players. Adam Underwood failed in their attempts to lure Facundo Buonanotte and Harry Wilson to Elland Road.

It has left Leeds light in attack, proven by scoring just one goal in four Premier League games so far. But Leeds have already been linked with players since the summer window closed, like Jean-Philippe Mateta.

But there are a handful of players in the Championship that LeedsUnited.News understand the club is keeping tabs on ahead of January, and one of them is Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney.

Leeds target Hayden Hackney one of the Championship’s best

Having come through the ranks at Middlesbrough, 23-year-old Hackney has already clocked up 119 senior outings for his boyhood club. But it is over the last 12 months that Hackney has made his name.

This term, Hackney has played all but five minutes of Boro’s five games in which Rob Edwards’ side have picked up 13 points from 15. Lee Hendrie told FLW he is one of the Championship’s top-three midfielders.

“Hayden Hackney’s been absolutely excellent for them this season. Already contributed a goal, started every game as well. He’s a player that’s got that bit of leadership, considering he’s still relatively young.

“He’s got that drive and obviously a new manager to go and impress, Rob Edwards, and he’s really done that I think this season, so he’d be one of my three for sure,” Hendrie continued, praising Hackney.

Which other Championship players are Leeds looking at?

According to Teesside Live, Ipswich had a bid of £20m accepted for Hackney but a move did not come to fruition. The midfielder opted to reject a move. Hackney is on Leeds’ list, as is Millwall’s Mihailo Ivanovic.

It comes after Ivanovic scored 12 Championship goals for Millwall last season and the young striker is one Leeds are keeping tabs on, as per LeedsUnited.News sources. The other is Northern Ireland’s Isaac Price.

Joining West Brom in January, Price scored against Germany in the most recent international break. Robbie Evans said Leeds would avoid January but reports say Leeds are actually planning for signings.
