Dan James has admitted that he finally feels happy at Leeds United after a difficult year last season in which the Wales star was sent to Fulham by Jesse Marsch – where he struggled to find his form.
James, 26, joined Leeds in the summer of 2021 under Marcelo Bielsa in a £25m move from Manchester United. He showed some decent form at Elland Road in his first season, playing out of position up top.
But with Leeds signing Willy Gnonto on deadline day, James chose to move to Fulham on loan in order to get game time ahead of the World Cup. It didn’t go to plan, James playing just 23 times last season.
This season, James has been on fire. He is keeping Jaidon Anthony and Willy Gnonto out of the starting XI, having a hand in 10 goals in 17 games this term. James told BBC Radio Leeds he feels settled, now.
“It’s nice to just come back here and settle. Especially with the family. When everything is good at home, you feel settled. With friends and family round here, you can really enjoy your time in football,” he said.
“At this very moment, I am very settled. When I moved here two years ago, I felt part of it straight away. Last year it was different but I’m back here now. I feel really good, on and off the pitch. I’m loving life.”

He has been on fire for Leeds. Simply sensational. Certainly, recently, James has scored five goals in his last six Leeds games, crucial goals in wins over Plymouth, Swansea and on Saturday, Middlesbrough.
If he can keep it going from now until the end of the season, then James will surely be a key player at Leeds for years to come. Even if we gain promotion to the Premier League. Blackburn away, is next up.
