It might come as a surprise that Daniel Farke has masterminded a 7-0 win in the Championship before, with Leeds United’s rout of Cardiff City the second time one of his sides have won 7-0.

In April 2021, Daniel Farke watched on as Teemu Pukki scored a hat-trick and Emi Buendia starred during a 7-0 demolition of Huddersfield Town. A season in which Norwich were promoted to the Premier League.

On Saturday, Leeds boasted six different scorers. Brenden Aaronson, Manor Solomon, Dan James, Wilfried Gnonto, Mateo Joseph and Joel Piroe all got their names on the score sheet – Piroe notching two goals.

But it was Junior Firpo that arguably caught the eye more than most, even if James also laid on two assists for Leeds. Firpo was handed a start after spending the last two months out of the starting XI with injury.

But his absence from the Leeds side simply had no impact on his performance. The Dominican Republic star laid on three assists for Leeds on the day, as The Yorkshire side cruised to an 18th win of the season.

Firpo’s future might be under the microscope, with Keith Downie revealing Firpo is a target for La Liga side Real Sociedad. But his focus will be on promotion right now and he sent a message to Leeds fans.

He said on Instagram, following the win: “Lovely afternoon at home with the boys. I hope you enjoyed that one, important week coming.”

Largie Ramazani compares Junior Firpo to ‘prime’ Jordi Alba

Remarkably, Firpo now has 13 assists in 43 Championship appearances. He might not always be fit, but the left-back can be replied upon to provide another attacking threat in a Leeds shirt when on the pitch.

Largie Ramazani is becoming renowned for his bubbly personality and the £10m summer signing said Firpo played like “prime Jordi Alba” on Saturday. Jayden Bogle jokingly described Firpo as “greedy”.

With Coventry City in good form under Frank Lampard, it will be interesting to see who Farke chooses to play at left-back on Wednesday night. The attacking Firpo, or the defensively solid Sam Byram.
