Leeds United put in a commanding performance to beat Stoke City 2-0 on Boxing Day. But one player maybe stood out more than others.

Joel Piroe was the man to score both goals in the Boxing Day win at Stoke City, and Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman named Piroe Man of the Match for his efforts.

But it wasn’t a very complete performance from the Dutchman with Stuart Dallas frustrated at Piroe’s display before he got on the scoresheet.

Elsewhere, Dan James impressed on the day, setting up Piroe for his second goal of the game. But it was Jayden Bogle who really shone.

Bogle was Leeds’ star player against Stoke City following an energetic performance down the right-hand side.

The summer signing from Sheffield United was constantly up and down the flank, causing problems for Stoke throughout the game and creating chances for his teammates in the process.

Jayden Bogle posts on Instagram, Joel Piroe and other Leeds United stars reply

After securing the win at the bet365 Stadium, Bogle posted on Instagram: “+3 points on the road.” Soon after, a handful of his Leeds comrades replied.

Piroe compared Bogle to Cafu, writing: “Man like Cafu,” whilst Largie Ramazani said Bogle was more like former Barcelona star Dani Alves, posting: “You was moving like prime Dani Alves.”

Junior Firpo also weighed in, writing: “My FB cooking.”

Bogle, 24, has now featured 21 times in the Championship this season, having scored three goals and grabbed one assist in the process.

Daniel Farke delighted with one aspect of Jayden Bogle’s game right now

In the first half of the game against Stoke in particular, Leeds really threatened down the right where Bogle and James were having a lot of joy.

Bogle was overlapping James as well as playing neat balls over the defence for him to run on to. After the game, Farke spoke about Bogle and James’ partnership on the right, highlighting their quality but adding that the pair won’t play every game together.

Farke said: “When [Bogle and James] play together and look comfortable in their game, they are looking pretty sharp.

“But it won’t be possible during this busy schedule in a 46-game season to play each and every minute with them both together on the pitch.”

Keeping Bogle fit and firing is going to be key for Farke and Leeds United this season. The Whites return to action away at Derby County on Sunday evening.
