Key Plymouth attacker suspended for Leeds United match as Daniel Farke also faces defender absence

Leeds United aren’t the only side affected by suspensions in their upcoming clash with Plymouth Argyle at Elland Road.

The Whites will be without Jayden Bogle for the first time in a league match since his arrival from Sheffield United in the summer, after picking up his fifth booking of the season at Bristol City.

Isaac Schmidt and Sam Byram are both in contention to replace him at right-back, though it would be a real bitter pill to swallow for the former if he doesn’t get the nod.

Bogle is one of four Leeds players who have been walking a suspension tightrope over the last few matches, with Junior Firpo missing last weekend’s 0-0 draw at Ashton Gate.

Wilfried Gnonto and Joe Rodon are both also currently sat on four bookings, but Plymouth will be without a key man of their own this weekend.

Wayne Rooney without Ibrahim Cissoko vs Leeds

Sitting just outside the bottom three, Plymouth haven’t had much to celebrate so far this season. That said, if the season finished tomorrow, they would take 21st place.

Their best day of the campaign up to now came at the end of September when they defeated Luton Town 3-1 under the Friday night lights at Home Park.

Summer signing Ibrahim Cissoko was on the scoresheet twice that day, but Rooney will not be able to call on him at Elland Road.

Cissoko picked up a straight red card for violent conduct in their 5-0 defeat at Cardiff City a couple of weeks ago, with their trip to Leeds the last match of his three-match ban.

Alongside Morgan Whittaker, Cissoko is Plymouth’s top scorer in the Championship so far this season with three, and so will clearly be a big miss.

Frederick Issaka was chosen in his place against Preston North End last time out, and was able to get on the scoresheet in a 3-3 comeback draw.

Can Darko Gyabi play against Leeds?

Plymouth have a couple of Leeds links in their squad this season but one of them will not be able to play this weekend.

Darko Gyabi is currently on a season-long-loan at Argyle but will be ineligible to face his parent club, which is a blow for Rooney.

However, there is one former Leeds player who could line-up for Plymouth in midfield, and that is Adam Forshaw.

Forshaw has been a regular starter since joining from Norwich City in January and could come up against Leeds for the first time since leaving in the summer of 2023.
