Kemar Roofe made more appearances for Leeds than any other club throughout his career.
The Jamaica international played 122 games for Leeds from 2016 to 2019 – scoring 33 goals and providing 14 assists – and undoubtedly witnessed a lot during his time at Elland Road.
On that note, the first experience of a Marcelo Bielsa meeting following his appointment in June 2018 left Kemar Roofe particularly baffled.
Leeds United players needed a moment to themselves after maiden Marcelo Bielsa meeting
Speaking on the Sacked in the Morning podcast, the 32-year-old spoke about just how “confused” the Leeds squad were after the South American first addressed them.
Roofe said: “Everyone came out of that meeting confused, scratching their heads. Usually you go downstairs and everyone just goes different directions, goes into the gym. Everyone just went straight into the dressing room, sat down and just said, what was that?”
Bielsa was undoubtedly a character – when he spoke, the room often fell silent to listen.
The 70-year-old did not always operate in a conventional manner, with his electric style of football standing out against anything the Championship has seen before, while he also stood out in terms of sportsmanship when allowing Aston Villa to equalise back in April 2019.
Bielsa was a unique figure, and these comments from Roofe – who thinks Rangers are a bigger club – just go to show that even the Leeds players were taken aback by his approach at first.
What is Kemar Roofe up to now?
Roofe, who praised Dominic Calvert-Lewin recently, left Leeds for Anderlecht in August 2019 before spending time with Rangers and Derby – the latter of whom he departed at the end of last season.
It left the man born in Walsall without a club for several months, until Walsall themselves offered him a short-term contract in November which runs until January.

It is a similar deal to the one Sheffield United have tied Patrick Bamford to – with both strikers needing to prove their fitness before longer contracts are considered.
Roofe made his debut last time out in a 2-0 defeat against Colchester, playing 14 minutes as he rebuilds his match fitness.
Hopefully, the Leeds fan favourite can get himself back up to speed quickly.
