Karl Darlow receives support from Leeds United legend after ‘difficult’ Wales experience

Leeds United goalkeeper Karl Darlow has received backing from a club legend after a difficult night in Wales’ defeat against England.

Karl Darlow received a wave of support from Leeds fans during the international friendly, after he was powerless to prevent three early England goals at Wembley.

Ethan Ampadu admitted that the defeat bruised Wales, as England overran the visitors in the opening exchanges. However, Joe Rodon was one of the bright spots, earning praise from the Welsh media after the game.

It was a bittersweet evening for the Darlow, who took the Wales captaincy for the closing stages of the game when Ben Davies was substituted in the second half.

Now, Darlow has received a message of support from Leeds legend Stuart Dallas after sharing his reaction to the defeat.

Karl Darlow receives a message of support from Leeds United legend

Posting on his personal Instagram page, Darlow shared his pride at being handed the opportunity to captain his country at Wembley.

Although Darlow admitted that he had suffered a “difficult” night, he said that he would cherish the experience forever.

Darlow said: “Difficult evening, but captaining my country is a moment I will cherish forever. PROUD.”

Leeds legend Stuart Dallas sent a short message of support to Darlow in the comments to his post, stating, “Love it”, in response.

Darlow now faces the difficult task of picking himself up for Wales’ crucial World Cup qualifier against Belgium, which will be played in Cardiff on Monday 13th October.

The stats behind Karl Darlow’s performance vs England

Although Darlow was only handed a 5.2 rating by FotMob, he did little wrong in Wales’ defeat against England.

Darlow’s first involvement in the game was to make a smart save from Anthony Gordon in the opening exchanges before England opened the scoring from the resulting corner.
