Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport that Leeds United have been keeping an eye on West Bromwich Albion boss Carlos Corberan for some time now – largely focusing on his coaching style and man management in their analysis.
Corberan, 40, left Leeds in 2020 to take over at Huddersfield Town. He guided the Terriers into the play-offs, after working as Leeds U21 manager and under Marcelo Bielsa. A stint with Olympiakos failed in the first half of 22-23.
But returning to the Championship, Corberan has impressed at West Brom and after a deeply poor start under the management of Steve Bruce – Corberan almost pushed the Baggies into the top six. He has plenty of potential.
Corberan signed a new deal in February after snubbing the chance to return to Leeds and replace Jesse Marsch. But that deal includes a £2m release clause and Leeds are interested in taking advantage of that, as per The Mail.
Now, Jones says Leeds have kept a constant eye on Corberan and have particularly noted his coaching style and the way he deals with players – in regards to his man management. Jones says he is definitely a Leeds contender.
“Corberan is the one I’ve heard the most about for this job. They definitely like him. They’ve considered him before and kept a close eye on his management style and how he deals with players. I think he’ll be a serious contender.”

Corberan would be a superb appointment. He is a manager that already knows the club, knows a lot of the players at the club – especially those that have come through the 21’s into the senior side. A disciple of Bielsa. Perfect.
Surely, he would jump at the chance to return and manage the club he worked so hard for, for three years. A fee of £2m is not going to see Leeds pass that up. You would argue that among the names mentioned, he is a favourite.
