Transfer expert Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport that Ryan Fraser will follow Allan Saint-Maximin in leaving Newcastle United this summer – amid reports Leeds United want to land the Scotland star, in the coming weeks.
Fraser, 31, managed just eight Premier League outings, totalling little over 300 minutes of football last season at Newcastle. It comes after he reintegrated himself in the Toon side towards the end of Howe’s first season in charge.
But, signings such as Alex Isak, Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes have pushed Saint-Maximin and Fraser down the pecking order. Miguel Almiron, Jacob Murphy and Joelinton are also options. Saint-Maximin has left Newcastle.
He has joined Al-Ahli for £23m. Now, Fraser is expected to join him, despite the French star’s departure – amid reports Leeds are keen. The Sunday Mirror (9/7; page 74) say Leeds are doing battle for £63k-a-week Fraser.
Jones said: “Newcastle are very open to Fraser leaving. He just hasn’t been found a move that is suitable. I have not heard he’s going to be able to work his way back in. It is fair to assume he follows Saint-Maximin out the door.”

Leeds do not need Fraser. Not until three of our seven wide options are sold. Jack Harrison and Willy Gnonto are more than likely to leave. Cree Summerville, Helder Costa and Luis Sinisterra have been linked with the exit door.
Costa will certainly go, but you would imagine Dan James and Ian Poveda remain. So, Costa, Gnonto and Harrison will surely depart – leaving the spot open for a possible winger signing. Nick Hammond has contacts at the Toon.
