TalkSPORT journalist Alex Crook has claimed live on air on Tuesday morning that it is his “understanding” that Willy Gnonto is keen on a move away from Leeds United this summer – amid interest from big English and Italian clubs.
Gnonto, 19, has failed to start a single game for Leeds since the 4-2 win over Wolves prior to the international break. Since then, Leeds’ form under Javi Gracia has got worse – losing three of the next four Premier League matches.
Two of those have come against Arsenal and Liverpool – but consecutive heavy defeats have really worsened the atmosphere around Elland Road. Ahead of Saturday’s outing against Fulham, relegation looks like a real possibility.
Speaking about Leeds on TalkSPORT in place of Simon Jordan this morning, Crook said that it is to his knowledge that Gnonto is keen on an exit this summer. Perhaps unsurprising, given Gracia continues to overlook the Italy ace.
“The club has been run in a shambolic way this season,” Crook said on talkSPORT. “What about that dressing room? Gnonto, not in the starting lineup last night. My understanding is that he may well be hankering for a move away.”

Crook understanding that Gnonto keen on move away from Leeds
Italian newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport claim Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City all want to sign Gnonto. 90Min say five Serie A clubs are also interested and luring the winger back to his home country. So, the interest is there.
There are a few caveats to this. If Leeds go down, then there is no chance Gnonto remains at Elland Road and a move away this summer is expected. If we stay up, then the club should only consider a sale for a huge profit.
Bought for £4.5million, Leeds should be requesting figures north of £40million for the Italian wonderkid. However, dropping down to the Championship may force the club into player sales and that dramatically reduces his value.
