Joel Piroe, Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon have all praised Archie Gray for his performance in Leeds United’s win at Leicester City on Friday.

The three Whites stars were all responding to Gray’s post-match Instagram post, where he shared his happiness at being able to play alongside such a great team.

After being handed a rest in the 4-1 victory over Huddersfield Town, Gray was recalled to the starting XI at right-back against Leicester in Daniel Farke’s only change.

Leicester had gone into the match on the back of a nine-match winning run in the Championship, but could not break down a Leeds back four that restricted them to just one shot on target, in added time.

Gray was up against arguably Leicester’s biggest dangerman on the night in Stephy Mavididi, who had scored three goals and provided three assists in 14 matches before last night.

Aside from a couple of instances in the first half where Mavididi was able to get to the by-line, Gray restricted him to very little for the majority of the 90 minutes.

Piroe, Amapdu and Rodon were all full of praise for the ‘phenomenal’ performance of the 17-year-old with comments under his Instagram post.

The rest that Farke handed Gray against Huddersfield Town clearly paid dividends as he looked refreshed and ready to go down that right-hand-side.

Coming up against a winger as quick as Mavididi was never going to be easy but he performed extremely well and should take enormous confidence from his performance.

His contribution to the victory has clearly been recognised by plenty of teammates, though it is fair to say there wasn’t one bad performance across the entire starting XI.
