Joe Rodon scored both his first goal in English football and for Leeds United in the 2-0 win over Derby County at Elland Road.
Leeds eased to a comfortable three points against the Rams to move back to the top of the Championship ahead of Sheffield United’s trip to West Brom on Sunday.
Against a Derby side defending in a bank of six at times and in such torrid weather conditions, Leeds struggled early on to create anything in the way of clear-cut chances.
However, arguably Leeds’ player of the match Joe Rothwell stepped up to deliver an inch perfect corner for Rodon to head in an opener just before the 40th minute.
Max Wober then also netted his first goal for Leeds a few moments later after coming on in place of the injured Junior Firpo at left-back.

Rodon on Leeds work at Thorp Arch this week
Leeds were coming up against the best set-piece side in the Championship in Derby this afternoon, but there was only one team ever looking like scoring from such situations.
Prior to his opener, Rodon put an arguably even easier chance wide of the post before finally scoring his first goal for Leeds at the 70th attempt.
Rodon was handed Sky Sports’ player of the match award after the game and was asked about both chances he had from corners during the game.
The Wales international says set-pieces is something Leeds have been working on all week against a potentially dangerous Derby, which has clearly paid off.
He said: “We were frustrated last weekend but to be back in front of our home fans with a win and a clean sheet is all we can ask for. To be fair I think the first chance was a bit easier but we have been working on it [set-pieces] all week.
“It’s important when a team sits off, when we’re trying to beat the press on everything, to score from a set-piece is a great day.”
Rodon and Max Wober Leeds’ 12 and 13th goalscorers of the season
Commentator Gary Weaver mentioned a couple of times on commentary that Daniel Farke wanted to build a side where the goals would be evenly spread.
And that is certainly what he has done this season, with Rodon and Wober now Leeds’ 12th and 13th goalscorers of the season respectively.
What’s perhaps even more impressive, is that six Leeds defenders have now all found the back of the net this term.
13 is already the exact same number of scorers Leeds managed throughout the entirety of last season.
