Leeds United’s Under-23 side were made to work hard to win on Tuesday night against local side Guiseley at Nethermoor Park. The Whites eventually ran out 3-2 winners but only after Guiseley had equalised in the first half. Now, Joe Gelhardt has given a verdict on new Leeds signing Amari Miller.
In what was a complete Under-23 side apart from the return of long-term absentee Adam Forshaw, Jackson’s side began pre-season. The likes of Sam Greenwood, Gelhardt, Charlie Cresswell, Elia Caprile and Jack Jenkins all started the match. Forshaw made his introduction in the second half.
New signing Amari Miller was in the starting line-up, while Sean McGurk and Lewis Bate were not. Leeds got off to a flyer. Crysencio Summerville won and scored a penalty – only for Guiseley to equalise. Miller, who lasted 80 minutes, posted on Instagram after his non-competitive debut.
What has Gelhardt said about Leeds newbie Miller?
Just before half-time, Greenwood reminded everyone why he is up there with the best prospects Leeds have ever produced. His gorgeous free-kick nestled in the top corner. A third came when Miller was replaced by Charlie Allen and the Northern Irish youngster got a third.
There was time for Guiseley to make the game interesting, reducing the deficit to 3-2. But ultimately, a very strong performance from the club’s Under-23 side to beat National League North side Guiseley. Gelhardt gave his six-word verdict on new signing Miller on his Instagram post.
