Jamie Carragher has predicted the three teams who will be promoted to the Premier League from Leeds United, Ipswich Town, Leicester City and Southampton.
Carragher gave his verdict after Sheffield United’s 6-0 defeat at Arsenal, in which he claimed the Blades, along with Burnley and Luton Town have felt like three Championship teams in the top-flight this season.
He also said the three relegated sides Leeds, Leicester and Southampton have felt like three Premier League sides in the Championship, in what has been a promotion race like no other.
But for an incredible season by newly promoted Ipswich, promotion would’ve been a walk in the park for all three clubs but there is now a serious fight between four, for two spots.
Speaking on Monday Night Football, though, Carragher has tipped the three relegated clubs to all seal an immediate return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
Carragher makes promotion prediction
He said: “It’s felt like, for the majority of the season, we’ve had three Championship clubs in the Premier League and the Championship has got three Premier League clubs – and I think those three clubs are probably going to come back, and these three will drop down.”
It shows just how important dropped points can be in this race with the fact Leeds’ dressing room reacted to the draw at Huddersfield Town as though it was a defeat.

Unbelievably, this was the first time Leeds had dropped points since the turn of the New Year, but it is going to take another strong run of form if they are going to finish second.
Carragher is not the first pundit to back Leeds to take one of those two spots, but Ipswich are certainly not going to make it easy, while Southampton returned to form on Saturday too.
Thankfully, though, Leicester have somehow been dragged back into the race after three defeats in a row, having previously been so far clear of the chasing pack.
