Brighton & Hove Albion are not expected to make a move for Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams.
That is according to journalist Ben Jacobs, who says the Seagulls are ‘not planning’ on pursuing a deal for Adams despite the collapse of his £20 million switch to Chelsea.
Brighton are among several Premier League sides to have been linked with a move for Adams this summer but had appeared to be out of the race with Chelsea in pole position.
However, despite a medical having been completed (Sky Sports) and Adams’ release clause having been triggered, Mauricio Pochettino’s side pulled out at the 11th hour and he will now return to Leeds.
It is thought Chelsea have done so in order to raise the extra funds needed to meet Brighton’s £110 million asking price of Moises Caicedo.
Brighton not planning Adams pursuit despite Caicedo windfall
Chelsea have been chasing Caicedo as their main target throughout the summer but looked set to be beaten by Liverpool on Thursday night after they saw a huge offer accepted.
Caicedo has stuck to his preference on a move to Stamford Bridge, though, with Chelsea now preparing to meet the monstrous valuation.
That has ultimately had a knock-on effect to Adams‘ transfer and he is now currently in limbo on what his next move could be, with Brighton also now looking unlikely.
Adams has always been a player reported as someone San Francisco 49ers Enterprises would like to keep but they are powerless to stop any approaches if his £20 million clause his met.
It will be interesting to see how the final three weeks of the window unfolds as Adams continues his recovery from a hamstring issue.
