Jesse Marsch has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that Cody Drameh is in his best form since the American boss arrived at Leeds United – with Drameh impressing in the Spain training camp, and then against Elche on Thursday night.
Leeds came from behind to beat rock-bottom La Liga side Elche 2-1 and lift the Festa d’Elx Trophy. Elche took the lead just before the break, before Marsch’s substitutes changed the game. Sam Greenwood found Joe Gelhardt to equalise.
Then, Klich scored a sumptuous winner. But the likes of Willy Gnonto, Mateo Joseph and Drameh changed the tide for Leeds – who were woeful in the first 45. Drameh has been earning plenty of praise for his work in Leeds training.
Whether that be an assist for Crysencio Summerville, or scoring after a Gnonto run, Drameh is catching the eye. Marsch was asked about a potential January exit for Drameh – and he praised the right-back, but says he remains third choice.
“Obviously he has Luke ahead of him right now competing for that position, Rasmus as well, but Cody for me, has had his best time, his best two weeks he’s ever had since I’ve been here have been the last two weeks.
“I think he’s mentally he’s pretty clear in his head and I think he’s playing really well. So I’m really happy for him. We even considered starting him today because we think he’s doing so well. So that’s great to see.”

So, what do Leeds do with Drameh? According to Graeme Bailey, the right-back has interest in his services from the likes of Newcastle, West Ham, Palace and plenty of other clubs. He is an incredible talent, but remains third choice.
Luke Ayling is out of contract at the end of the season and it might be, that Leeds offer Drameh a new deal. With the promise, that when Ayling departs next June, that Drameh is promoted to second choice. But is that enough?
