Leeds United star Willy Gnonto scored two goals as Italy’s Under-21 side dispatched San Marino 7-0 on Thursday in Serravalle – and Italian media have heaped praise on the youngster for his display.
Gnonto, 19, has endured a dismal few months at Elland Road. Relegation, and then trying to escape us by refusing to play. Three games, and he returned. Injury next, and now, demotion from Italy’s squad.
The winger is struggling to start for Daniel Farke‘s side with Cree Summerville and Dan James starring for Leeds. Gnonto has started just once in our last 10 Championship matches. A move could materialise.
Calcio Style say Lazio are interested and are planning a loan deal for Gnonto, with an obligation worth a fee of £13.1m. It is unclear if Leeds would be willing to let him go. Finally, a bit of good news for Gnonto.

While he will have been annoyed to have lost his place in Italy’s senior side, at least a run out in the 21’s will gave him confidence. Two goals, and he won a penalty in 73 minutes, in a 7-0 win over San Marino.
Italian site OA Calcio handed Gnonto a rating of 8/10 for his display on Thursday, saying the Leeds ace was the best player on the pitch in San Marino during the win. A performance worth remembering.
