James Tarkowski believes Everton and Leeds United supporters are both very similar due to their passion.

Tarkowski is currently into his second season as an Everton player and will have a strong understanding of both sets of fans given the recent relegation battles the two clubs have been involved in.

Everton were just about able to pip both Leicester City and Leeds to Premier League survival on the final day in May, though that has not stopped Elland Road from being sold out every week.

Often when a player signs for Leeds they reference supporters as a big reason for why they came, with Georginio Rutter revealing in a recent interview that Illan Meslier told him how ‘crazy’ they are, prior to joining from Hoffenheim.

Everton defender Tarkowski was speaking on the latest episode of Ben Foster’s Fozcast, where he highlighted Leeds supporters as unique in terms of how they see the game.

Tarkowski praises Leeds supporters

He said: “I think with certain clubs and fan bases it just feels like it’s actually their lives. Nothing against other clubs but when you speak to Everton fans, it literally is their life. It’s the same at other clubs.

“Leeds as well and other big clubs. Their life is just for that game at the weekend and it will make or break that week until the next one.”

Daniel Farke has frequently praised supporters since his appointment as Leeds manager, and it is clear he has done everything he can to get them back on side after a tough couple of years.

Willy Gnonto was also asked in a recent interview how he would describe the club in three words, with ‘love, passion and craziness’ the ones he opted for.

It is nice to hear a player of an opposing team recognise the level of passion Leeds fans show towards their club and hopefully they are rewarded with a return to Premier League football.
