Leeds United may have found their new Stuart Dallas after signing Isaac Schmidt on deadline day.
Schmidt became Leeds’ eighth and final addition of the window just half-an-hour before the window slammed shut, joining on a four-year-deal from FC St. Gallen.
The 24-year-old only cost an initial fee of around £2.5 million and could represent a real bargain if he can transfer his form from Switzerland to Elland Road.
Daniel Farke told Schmidt just before signing for Leeds that he has a real trust in what he can offer the squad, though he may have to be patient for his chance.
Junior Firpo and Jayden Bogle are very much the first-choice pairing right now and barring any injuries, that is unlikely to change anytime soon.

Schmidt comments could mean Leeds have found new Stuart Dallas
If Schmidt can achieve anything close to what Dallas did during his time at Leeds then he is sure to be in for a good time of it in West Yorkshire.
Dallas has icon status at Leeds and a lot of that is down to just how versatile he was, playing in almost every outfield position on the pitch.
Striker and centre-back were the only positions Dallas did not play at Leeds and based on his transfermarkt statistics, Schmidt’s versatility is very similar.
In his first interview after signing with Leeds’ YouTube channel, Schmidt was asked about what fans who perhaps don’t know much about him, can expect.
Schmidt responded by suggesting he feels he can play in every single position on the pitch due to how intelligent he is.
He said: “I’m the type of play who loves to play with my head, to play without thinking too much. I can play in every position, I know how to play in every position because I can think in many ways. That’s what I love about football, not to think in one way, to experiment.”
Schmidt has history against Wilfried Gnonto
Schmidt was asked about Leeds star Gnonto, with the 20-year-old having played in the Swiss Super League against his new Whites teammate. Gnonto was at FC Zurich, before his move to Leeds in August 2022.
Schmidt is understandably delighted to be on the same team as the Italian, with one of his two red cards in 108 games for St. Gallen coming against Zurich, for a foul on Gnonto.
He said: “I’ve played against him when he was at Zurich. I am happy to be in the same team as him now, because he was really good. Too fast, I got a red card because of him. It’s better as teammates.”
