Leeds United fans who made the long trip to Stamford Bridge were treated to an excellent performance last night.

The Whites may have seen their journey in the FA Cup come to an end, but it was not until Conor Gallagher’s 90th minute goal that Chelsea were able to book their place in the last eight.

Mateo Joseph had put Leeds in front early on with his first ever goal for the club before Chelsea were able to take control thanks to Nicolas Jackson and Mykhaylo Mudryk.

From there you would have expected Chelsea to go on and win comfortably, yet Leeds were far the better side after the break and Joseph was able to equalise with his second of the night.

Though Leeds were defeated late on, supporters showed their appreciation for the performance during and after the game. Speaking on ITV Sport at full-time, Laura Woods hailed the away end as ‘incredible’.

Woods praises Leeds supporters

She said: “We should give a nod to Leeds because first of all their fans were incredible over there. They were so loud throughout the whole thing.”

Daniel Farke was less than impressed with the scheduling of this game and was quick to point out throughout the whole build up that he still had one eye on Huddersfield Town this weekend.

With that in mind, he left some key players on the bench, while the likes of Georginio Rutter and Ilia Gruev were also out injured, meaning Leeds were not at their strongest.

While progressing to a quarter-final would’ve been nice, all anyone would’ve asked for before the game was to deliver a competitive performance, and Leeds more than did that.

That is exactly why Leeds’ supporters were still serenading their team at full-time, and hopefully they will be doing the same at Huddersfield on Saturday, but after a 10th Championship win in a row.
