An image of Marc Roca posing with a Real Betis scarf on Sunday evening has emerged on Twitter ahead of a Leeds United exit, as he looks set for a return to his home country – three years after leaving Spain to join Bayern Munich.
Roca, 26, left Espanyol with his reputation at a career high for German champions Bayern in the summer of 2020. But after just 24 games in two seasons, Leeds chose to spend £10m last summer to sign Roca. Plenty of hype.
But, the Spanish lefty struggled at Leeds. An initially impressive start came to an end. Jesse Marsch protected Roca somewhat. Unable to cope with the intensity of the Premier League for an entire match, he was often substituted.
Tyler Adams’ injury meant he had to surpass the hour mark, week in, week out. He struggled and under Big Sam, he was left out of the XI. Following relegation, Roca is one of many looking to exit Leeds before this summer’s deadline.
Following Rasmus Kristensen’s move to Roma – the 13th exit from Leeds – Roca now looks set to make that number 14. Fabrizio Romano posted a picture of Roca arriving in Seville ahead of joining Betis – reporting there is an option.

Leeds are pressing on with getting rid of the players that want to go. Illan Meslier is likely to be one that still wants an exit. Sales are still expected for Junior Firpo, Willy Gnonto and Jack Harrison. But Roca is the next one to leave.
It will see him join a club that are competing in the Europa League, so an excellent move for Roca. Whether he will start for Manuel Pellegrini’s side remains to be seen. But, Roca’s move is done and here he is ahead of his move.
