Illan Meslier disagrees with Bristol City player as Leeds United star posts on Instagram after draw on Saturday

Leeds United failed in their bid to make it three wins from three on Saturday afternoon, though there were positives to take from the 0-0 draw against Bristol City at Ashton Gate.

The frustration for Leeds comes after Dan James missed a glorious first-half chance in which his effort was saved by Max O’Leary, after the Welshman was played in with a stunning pass from Wilfried Gnonto.

Gnonto himself then failed to take advantage of mayhem in the Bristol City box in the second half, when his shot was cleared off the line from 12 yards. It means Leeds have gone seven games unbeaten.

But, Leeds would rather have done so with a third consecutive win rather than a draw. It did also see the Whites and Illan Meslier keep a seventh clean sheet in their 12th Championship game, an impressive run.

Speaking after the game, O’Leary told Bristol City’s site that he felt a point was a fair result of the game and a deserved point for The Robins. Certainly, Bristol City worked hard and got a reward for their result.

He said: “It was a tough game and to come away with a point is probably fair. We were pretty comfortable without the ball. Something to build on, we want to make Ashton Gate a really tough place to come.”

Meslier however, posted on Instagram after enjoying a largely quiet afternoon especially during the second half down south. He feels Leeds deserved more than a point from the game in their 12th outing.

He said: “Hard-fought game, the team gave it all—deserved more than a draw. On to the next.”

Up next for Leeds, a deserved break and then Plymouth Argyle

After a tough run of three games in the space of eight days and many Leeds players had been in action during the October break, the Yorkshire side get a week-long’s break until the next Championship game.

Next up is Plymouth, with three games to play between now and the end final international break of the year in November. Leeds welcome a Plymouth side managed by Wayne Rooney, including Adam Forshaw.

It is a welcome relief, having played six of the other seven sides in the top eight so far this season. Leeds finally get to face some of the weaker sides in the Championship table and it will help nab some points.
