‘I’ll back’… David Prutton now predicts score in ‘blockbuster’ Leeds vs Leicester match tonight

David Prutton has given his prediction for Leeds United’s match with Leicester City tonight.

The Championship’s top two will go head-to-head under the lights at Elland Road in what is expected to be the biggest game of the season so far, despite Enzo Maresca’s mind games yesterday.

Leeds enter the match on the back of winning eight consecutive league matches since the turn of the New Year, and know a ninth would move them to within just six points of the Foxes.

Any hopes Leeds have of potentially catching Leicester between now and the end of the season rest on securing all three points this evening, and Prutton has shared whether he thinks they’ll get them.

Writing in his latest EFL predictions column for Sky Sports, Prutton says he is expecting an ‘absolute blockbuster’ of a game, but cannot separate the two sides.

Prutton predicts entertaining draw

He said: “What a game this is on Friday night. An absolute blockbuster. Second vs first. I absolutely cannot wait to be at Elland Road for this. Leeds are in remarkable form. They have stormed into second place off the back of eight straight wins, conceding just a goal in that run.

“And have the chance to turn the screw and try and make a bit of a break from Ipswich and Southampton below them. Leicester still have a big gap, but that could start to look a little smaller if they are beaten here.

“They lost to Leeds in the reverse fixture, and are coming off the back of defeat at home to Middlesbrough. Will they be feeling a bit nervy? They may if Leeds take an early lead, but I’ll back a draw and a few goals here. Prediction: Leeds 2-2 Leicester.“

Tonight will certainly be a match with two teams of contrasting styles. Maresca has already acknowledged it is Leeds’ pace on the counter-attack they will have to be wary of.

Leicester, meanwhile, are very strong at keeping possession and sustaining pressure, meaning Leeds will have to be excellent off the ball, just like they were in the win back at the King Power.

It should be a hugely entertaining affair at Elland Road tonight and hopefully Leeds can secure a ninth win in a row to really start putting the pressure on Leicester in first place.
