Reports from Spain claim that La Liga side Real Betis are keen on a move for Leeds United midfielder Marc Roca and the player is keen on a deal to take him back to Spain – and Leeds should jump at the chance to sell Roca to Betis.
The 26-year-old has endured a difficult season. While largely first choice in the Leeds midfield, he has not lived up to the hype of being a midfielder that had joined from Bayern Munich. Sam Allardyce dropped him for the last two.
The left-footed midfielder has clocked up 36 outings this season, starting 29 of our 37 Premier League games. He struggled to complete 90 mins under Jesse Marsch. He was forced to under Javi Gracia, with Tyler Adams injured.
Allardyce started him in his first game, a 2-1 loss to Manchester City. But he lasted an hour, with Jamie Carragher blaming Roca for both of Ilkay Gundogan’s goals. An unused sub against Newcastle, and a late sub at West Ham.
Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo say Real Betis are interested in Roca and have kept tabs on the ex-Espanyol ace for a number of years. The report also states that Roca is keen to go, and would be open to joining the Spanish side.

Leeds should jump at the chance to sell Marc Roca to Real Betis
Indeed, Roca is likely to be one of a number of players that leaves Elland Road this summer. It seems like a move that suits all parties involved. He has struggled at Leeds, we will want to sell especially if we end up going down.
Betis want Roca and he wants a move. For Roca, it will be a wonderful move – with Betis sitting sixth in the La Liga table, and looking to beef up their squad as they look set to qualify for the Europa League. A move that works for all.
So, if the reports are true, Leeds need to jump at the chance to sell Roca to Betis – especially if we’re relegated. If we remain in the Premier League, then perhaps giving Roca another season is best – but relegation now looks likely.
