Leeds United midfielder Marc Roca would be keen on a move back to Spain amid interest from Real Betis.

That is according to Estadio Deportivo, who claim sources close to the player have admitted a move to Betis has always been ‘liked’ by the player.

Betis were keen on signing Roca from Bayern Munich last summer on an initial loan deal that included an obligation to buy.

However, due to salary cap rules implemented by La Liga, the Spanish side were forced to pull out of the race and Roca instead made the switch to Leeds for a fee in the region of £10 million.

Despite failing to secure his signing last summer, Betis have continued to keep tabs on Roca, with ED also reporting his current contract includes a release clause in the event Leeds are relegated, which, of course, could happen on Sunday, which would leave the door open for them to make their move.

Roca keen on Betis switch

Despite Julien Nagelsmann’s public praise for Roca, the Spaniard was keen to leave Munich last summer in search of regular game time, which he has found at Leeds, making 32 appearances in the Premier League that have yielded one goal and two assists.

The 26-year-old had a promising start to life at Elland Road but since the return from the World Cup break, has looked distinctly off the pace.

Without Tyler Adams alongside him, Roca has often looked lost and his style of play just has not suited any of the managers Leeds have had this season.

Roca is a player who likes to get on the ball and recycle possession, but under Jesse Marsch’s chaotic narrow style of play, he was unable to do so.

That said, he has hardly helped himself with some of his performances in recent months with his weaknesses off the ball having really come to light during Leeds’ dismal run of results since April.
