Swansea City are reportedly among a host of clubs interested in signing Leeds United striker Mateo Joseph on loan.

That’s according to Marca, who report Swansea, along with Sampdoria, Wolfsburg and several other sides from across Europe are keeping an eye on his situation.

Joseph is reportedly primed to play an important role in Leeds’ first team this season but should that change before the end of the window, he will not be short of interest.

With that in mind, Leeds could use Swansea’s interest to their own advantage as they currently hold an interest in their striker Joel Piroe.

Piroe is the subject of interest from Leeds, Leicester City and Southampton but clubs are at this stage holding off from meeting Swansea’s £15 million asking price, even with him being out of contract next summer.

Leeds can use Swansea’s Joseph interest to advantage in Piroe pursuit

Swansea have already brought in two new strikers this summer with Jerry Yates joining from Blackpool and Mykola Kuharevich making the switch from Troyes.

Should Piroe move on this summer, their recent activity in the market would mean they are already well stocked in the attacking department but clearly another striker would be needed.

Leeds should look to gain leverage in negotiations for Piroe by offering Joseph in the other direction on loan, which would be a win-win situation for all parties.

Not only would Leeds be getting one of, if not the best striker in the league, but one of their top young talents would also be gaining valuable senior experience.

From Swansea’s point of view, they would be getting a striker in as an immediate Piroe replacement, as well as a significant amount of cash close to what he is worth.
