Reports from Germany are claiming that Georginio Rutter could leave Leeds United on loan, and return to the side he left just six months ago in the form of Hoffenheim – and if it does ring true, it could benefit us in the long run.
Rutter, 20, impressed for Hoffenheim. A young Frenchman, playing in a new league, he still managed to produce 19 goal involvements in 64 games – largely from out wide. That saw Leeds pay a club-record fee for him in January.
But it has not worked out, as of yet. Rutter managed 13 appearances, starting once in the League. He failed to get his first goal, nabbing only one assist on the final day in the 4-1 loss to Spurs. Now relegated, his future is in doubt.
BILD report that Hoffenheim have him on their list of potential signings, and could organise a loan for Rutter back to his old side. Many Leeds fans feel a drop to the Championship may get the best out of him. Peter Crouch said so.

But, it works both ways. Rutter may drop into the second tier and find that Patrick Bamford is still picked ahead of him – or, he struggles to come to terms with the physicality and amount of games. It might not work out for him.
So, it could actually prove to be a blessing in disguise if Rutter did go back on loan to Hoffenheim. The attacker needs an injection of confidence and at Hoffenheim, he played the best football of his career. Germany suited him.
Leeds will be among the favourites to go up to the Premier League from the Championship. If Rutter goes on loan, then it might see him regain that form and confidence at a place he knows he can produce form and momentum.
A blessing in disguise, it would see Rutter potentially return to Leeds a better player – more sure of himself and in a better place to take the Premier League on. By that point too, Bamford might have moved on. Rodrigo will have.
