German newspaper Bild claim Leeds United star Georginio Rutter is a target for old side Hoffenheim in the coming months just half a year after the Whites bought the Frenchman for a record fee. A loan is said to be a likely transfer.
Rutter, 21, joined Leeds in January after two years with Hoffenheim – in which he had a hand in 19 goals in 64 games for the Bundesliga side. He was bought for a club-record fee that could go north of £30m. But he has struggled.
Starting just once in the Premier League since his move, Rutter has failed to score in his 13 outings. He finally got his first goal involvement on the final day of the season, holding the ball up and finding Jack Harrison in the 4-1 loss.

With Leeds relegated, it is unclear if Rutter will stay – or go. A drop into the second tier might give Rutter the stage to shine, if he becomes first choice. But, Rutter himself may prefer to leave – with a loan likely for the Frenchman.
The latest report from Bild states that Hoffenheim have placed him on their shortlist for a potential return to the club just six months after going. Due to the cost of his Leeds move and his 2028 deal, a loan is preferred at Hoffenheim.

Rutter needs confidence. He might find that at Leeds in the Championship, playing against weaker opposition. But, maybe going back to a side where he initially built his reputation would be better. Rutter simply needs to play.
If he is told by Leeds that he can play regular football and will be considered above Patrick Bamford, then great. It is believed that Rodrigo is most-likely to go. If he is told that he will be back-up, a loan back to Hoffenheim could work.
