Ibrahim Afellay has told Dutch media that Feyenoord manager Arne Slot – who has of course, been strongly linked with a move to Leeds United – would struggle to refuse a move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer, if Spurs call.
Slot has already secured the Eredivisie title this season in only his second season with Feyenoord. Having guided his side to the Europa Conference League final last term, he has now won the League title. His reputation is high.
The Times recently claimed Leeds, West Ham, Palace and Spurs were all considering Slot. A new report from The Athletic this week even says that Leeds are expected to come back in for the Feyenoord boss in the coming weeks.
Former PSV, Barcelona and Netherlands midfielder Afellay was discussing the future of Slot – and believes that he would be a “big boy to refuse” an offer from North London if it is forthcoming in the next few weeks or months.

“If that club applies, you have to be a big boy to refuse,” he told Studio Voetbal, as per Feyenoord Pings. “I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes then. Tottenham Hotspur is a great club, very different from Southampton or Aston Villa.”
Afellay says Slot would struggle to refuse Tottenham after Leeds links
It would be hard to resist Spurs. Slot will want a move to the Premier League this summer, but where could he go? Which club, at the top, is going to want a new manager? Chelsea have agreed a move for Mauricio Pochettino.
Tottenham are the biggest side in the Premier League that will be looking for a new manager. But could Antonio Conte’s comments on Spurs be a stark reminder for Slot? If Leeds stay up, we will be hoping Spurs go elsewhere.
