On the weekend, Leeds United icon Ian Harte took to Twitter to praise the display of his client Jack Clarke and in doing so, mocked Luke Ayling. Now, he has bitten back at at angry Leeds supporter.

Ayling, 32, played his third game for Middlesbrough on Sunday – a North East clash against Sunderland. A North East derby that also included Sam Greenwood, Leo Hjelde and Jonny Howson. It ended 1-1.

Clarke has been on fire and there is no doubting that right now, he is one of the best wingers in the division. He got the assist for Nazariy Rusyn’s equaliser – which crept under goalkeeper Tom Glover.

Harte has entered the world of representation and is Clarke’s agent, as well as Sunderland teammate and former Leeds man Niall Huggins. Old Elland Road stars Lee Bowyer and Jonathan Woodgate, too.

Initially, Harte teased Ayling – with Clarke going past the out-on-loan Leeds man a few times during the match. Then, he defended his Tweet, saying Clarke does it to most right-backs in the Championship.

Ian Harte bites back at Leeds fan after Luke Ayling criticism

But Harte did not leave it there. A Leeds fan then not only criticised Harte for his Tweet regarding Ayling, but also took aim at Harte’s level of footballing ability – a player who’s deemed as an icon at Elland Road.

Part of the side that reached the Champions League semi-finals in 2000-01, Harte had a hand in 56 goals in 283 games for Leeds. Known for his expertise from set-pieces and of course, the penalty spot.

So, Harte bit back at a Leeds fan when they criticised his footballing career – suggesting he was the weak link in David O’Leary’s Leeds side. Harte reminded all of his personal footballing achievements.
