Daniel Farke admits he played Leeds United player longer than he planned in win over Watford at Elland Road

Injuries were once again on the agenda for Daniel Farke after Leeds United’s 2-1 win over Watford.

The Whites had managed to use the international break to get a couple of bodies back to full fitness but could once again be with a weakened bench for Saturday’s trip to Bristol City.

Largie Ramazani had to be withdrawn inside the opening 15 minutes having helped Leeds race into a 2-0 lead just a matter of moments earlier.

Junior Firpo will also be absent for Leeds’ clash against the Robins after picking up a fifth booking of the season, which means he picks up an automatic one-match ban.

Ramazani and Firpo had begun to form a really strong left-side partnership and so assuming the former does not recover in time, Leeds will certainly be weakened in that area at Ashton Gate.

Farke on why Manor Solomon did not go to plan

Ramazani had been getting better and better prior to limping off and although goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann gave him a large helping hand for his goal, he was full of confidence.

Manor Solomon was the man chosen by Farke to replace him on the left, but despite seeing plenty of the ball, failed to have the same impact Ramazani did.

Solomon was always going to show some signs of rust having only played 20 minutes in the last month or so due to injury. That said, there was a notable drop off when he came on.

Clearly Farke was keen to rebuild Solomon’s match fitness gradually, but Ramazani’s injury meant the Israel international practically played 90 minutes, including stoppage time.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, Farke was quick to admit Solomon played much longer than he had initially planned.

He said: “Only thing missing was the third goal. Injuries. Manor played longer than I wanted him to. Could not see anything in the game in the first half. We started slowly in the second half. Lost some duels.

“Underestimated some bits. We pushed them back into their half after they scored. Big compliment to our supporters after that game. They were excellent.”

Farke shares update on Largie Ramazani injury

Ramazani was forced off injured as a result of a strong challenge from the lively Festy Ebosele down the right-wing.

The Leeds winger had just breezed past Moussa Sissoko but as he showed all night both on and off the ball, Ebosele had the pace to get back.

Unfortunately for Leeds, Ebosele’s firm but fair challenge left Ramazani in a heap, an injury Farke believes is a twisted ankle.

He said: “Twisted his ankle. Have to wait and see. Deserve some luck.”
