Former Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch was a guest on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football last night.
It is now over a year to the day since Marsch was removed from his position at Elland Road and despite having been linked with a number of jobs in that time, is still yet to make his return to management.
Marsch was alongside Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher in the studio and was asked to delve into detail about his time at Leeds, but perhaps more specifically his tactical ideology.
Marsch continued to reiterate that he felt his sacking at Leeds was unfair due to the ‘underlying metrics’ his squad was showing, but did acknowledge that the results were not good enough.
Speaking after Everton’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on Sky Sports, he then gave his honest view on seeing Leeds do so well this season, and whether he wants to see the Whites back in the Premier League.
Marsch shares honest view on Leeds success
He said: “The point is it was the reward, I think, for the players and the fans for the hard work. And I believe Leeds United, as a club, deserves to be in the Premier League. I’m really happy to see that they’re doing well this year, and I’m hopeful that they can find their way back.”
Leeds currently sit second in the Championship with 69 points from their 33 matches so far, and are apart of a promotion battle with a standard from four sides that has never been seen before.
Back onto Marsch, it is not the first time since his sacking he has gone into detail about his spell in charge of the club. He has spoken about the squad he inherited, Victor Orta, and so much more.
Marsch made a couple of interesting points last night but perhaps the main one was sharing his interest in signing Taiwo Awoniyi before he moved to Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2022.
He also revealed he did not say goodbye to the squad when he was sacked as it would’ve reduced him to tears.
